Jacques D'Arrigo, former commercial director of Bordeaux, is working on a project to buy Clermont Foot 63 with several French and American investors. Since seven years, the Auvergne club is owned by Swiss Ahmet Schaefer, who wants to sell after an estimated purchase of 4 M€. Several buyers are on the list, like Stéphane Tessier, former OM director, but also Jacques D'Arrigo, former Girondins and UBB director. The consultant from Marseille has gathered several American and French investors to try to complete this takeover project. As commercial director of the Bordeaux club between January 2018 and March 2020, he is now in a favorable position to finalize the takeover of the Clermont club. In the columns of La Montagne, he explained the vision he wants to put in place within the Auvergne club. Jacques D'Arrigo for La Montagne: "We have studied the market. We have looked everywhere. We have been working on Clermont non-stop since January and we have come to the conclusion that it was the best place for us (...) It's on the model of mission-based companies. We have come to the conclusion that football can no longer continue like that. In the 80s, there were public subsidies. Then, there were TV rights, which have now collapsed. We need a new dynamic. We want to change the statutes and in addition to the sports and economic objectives, add social objectives".
